Over 5,000 artworks in Scotland’s national art collection are not currently on display to the public. Instead, they are safely stored in the Granton Art Centre. This climate-controlled space ensures the artworks can be safely looked after by the National Galleries of Scotland for all of us.

During Doors Open Day 2022, the Granton Art Centre will be inviting you in for behind-the-scenes tours of this amazing space. With so much incredible art stored safely away, there are literally thousands of discoveries to be made and stories to be heard. They'll have their experts on hand to share some of their top highlights with you.

They'll also share an update on The Art Works, a project to deliver a sustainable new facility to care for Scotland’s renowned art collection and provide a significant, long-term contribution to benefit and enhance the local community in Granton for years to come.
