National Library of Scotland - Causewayside Building
The National Library of Scotland is the largest library in Scotland, with over 34 million items in our collections.
One for the bookworms!
Ranging from manuscripts, printed books, newspapers, magazines, sound and film collections, maps and more, the library's vast collections grow every day.
The building at Causewayside is an iconic piece of modern architecture, which was purpose-built to house the library’s collections.
This Doors Open Day weekend, the friendly and knowledgeable staff are offering behind-the-scenes tours. This will be a rare chance to explore the building’s design and to discover the range of activities that take place at Causewayside. Tours will include the Maps Reading Room, the Digitisation Suite, the Acquisitions and Cataloguing area and the storage stacks.
