Gladstone's Land
There's no building like it on the Royal Mile
Experiences the ups and downs of the Old Town
Gladstone's Land is one of Edinburgh's oldest townhouses with parts of it dating back to 1501. It was a merchant hub throughout the 17th and 18th centuries with imported goods such as spices and fabrics being sold to the wealthy. Its decline in the late 19th and early 20th centuries reflects the history of the Old Town.
Costumed guides will introduce you to the former residents of Gladstone's Land and the time they lived in. You can touch almost all items in the museum, dress up and rifle through century-old drawers in this immersive and interactive experience.
