Go behind the scenes of a well-loved library

A real page-turner!

Edinburgh Central Library opened to the public in 1890 and right now is undergoing a £1.8 million building works programme.

It will be offering two tours of the behind-the-scenes parts of the building, including its book storage area, the basement and the areas in the Reference Library which are usually closed to the public.

Find out more about how this amazing building has adapted to library life throughout the 20th and 21st centuries and some of the challenges it faces.
